UPP began its academic year on September 18th and opened its doors to its largest student body since its inception in 2007. With the recent approval permitting UPP to admit women students, the student body will nearly double reaching a combined total of nearly 300 male and female students. To accommodate the addition of female students, a new women’s section was established and a faculty staff to manage the program and teach was hired. The existing academic program structure and curriculum will be used by both the male and female students. This preparation program stresses the development of English language skills for general and academic purposes and instruction in math and the sciences including that at the SAT and AP levels. Based at Alfaisal University, UPP will utilize Alfaisal’s two-tier classroom configuration for the upper level female students and more conventional-style classrooms for lower level students. Students will be grouped in academic pathways designed and tailored to prepare them to meet the rigors of learning in Alfaisal’s colleges of medicine, engineering, business, and science.
