One of Alfaisal University’s priorities is competence building by helping to develop a student’s intellectual abilities and team working skills through involvement in focused research that address strategic problems of concern to the country and the region. The “Research Day Student Poster Competition” is held each year to strengthen the vision that research is indeed one of the missions of Alfaisal University.  Students present their summer research activities/proposals/future programs. Students may submit a research paper in one of the following four categories: Business & Management; Engineering & Technology; Medicine & Health Science; and Science & Humanities. Any undergraduate student currently enrolled at university is eligible to take part in the annual competition.

This year there were 36 posters, a 70% increase over last year.  The Organizers were pleased to see that the College of Business contributed posters for the first time. In addition, a total of 16 posters were contributed by female students.  This was also the first time that the competition had four distinct categories.  Prizes were awarded in each category. The awards which consist of trophies and cash prizes will be handed out at an official ceremony to be arranged by the University in the near future.

The Chair of the Organizing Committee, Mattheus Goosen, said “each year I continue to be impressed by the quality of work produced by our students.  The research presented was done either on their own, in groups or in collaboration with local research centres as well as overseas institutions.

On behalf of all the faculty judges and members of the Organizing Committee we would like to congratulate all participants in the competition.  Alfaisal University is very proud of all of our students.
