College of Business invited Dr. Lujain Fawaz Al Alamy to be part of the college\u2019s Lecture Series. Dr. Lujain is a recent graduate of Columbia University in New York, USA, holds a Ph.D. and an M. Phil in Cognitive Science, and an M.A. in Cognitive Studies. Her research work focused on how individual factors (such as motivation orientation, risk propensity, and personality traits) influence people’s decision-making behavior. She recently joined the Vision Realization Office at the Ministry of Education as consultant.<\/p>\n

The lecture titled \u201cPsychological factors that influence people’s decision-making behavior<\/strong>\u201d was presented to the students of College of Business and the public at large. The presentation took place on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 in the Lecture Theatre (F) and was aired through zoom.<\/p>\n

Dr. Lujain started the lecture by defining decision making and the psychology of decision-making. She gave examples of daily lives decisions and the action and process of making these decisions. She spoke in detail about researched theories underlying normative decision-making into Expected value theory and Expected utility theory.<\/p>\n

She then spoke about Behavioral decision-making and its attempt to describe how people behave when choices are made (as opposed to what a perfectly rational person would do). She concluded the lecture by giving examples of motivation and personality traits that influences decision-making behavior.<\/p>\n

The lecture is part of College of Business Executive Lecture Series to provide the students and guests from the business community the opportunity to learn from some of the country’s leading executives and leaders as they talk about their experiences.\u00a0 College of Business sponsors the weekly Executive Lecture Series to bridge the gap between the world of leadership and business education.
