It examines whether international trade agreements can contribute to sustainable development. Whether international trade can contribute to sustainability is a novel, timely, and important question that will most likely grow in importance over time and addresses a planetary challenge. We argue in the book that trade agreements have the potential to protect the climate and Mother Nature, and therefore can foster sustainability. In other words, trade is a means to reach an end, namely protecting and preserving the planet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the author<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alfaisal University\u2019s newly joined College of Law Faculty Professor Rafael Leal Arcas has published a new book titled \u201c<strong>International Trade and Sustainability<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Before joining Alfaisal College of LAW \u2013 which was founded in 2021- Professor Rafael was the Program Director of the LLM in International Economic Law at Queen Mary University of London (UK). His research and publications focus on many subjects, including the European Union, sustainability, international trade, energy, and climate change.<\/p>\n<p>He has published more than19 books, which include: <em>International Trade Relations of the European Union: A Legal and Policy Analysis <\/em>(2022),<em> Climate Clubs for a Sustainable Future <\/em>(2021),<em> The Future of International Economic Law and the Rule of Law <\/em>(2020),<em> EU Energy Law and Policy <\/em>(2020), <em>EU Trade Law<\/em> (2019),<em> Commentary on the Energy Charter Treaty <\/em>(2018),<em> University Initiatives in Climate Change Mitigation <\/em>(2018),<em> Research Handbook on EU energy law and policy <\/em>(2017),<em> European Energy Union <\/em>(2016),<em> Energy Security, Trade and the EU <\/em>(2016), <em>International Energy Governance<\/em> (2014),<em> Climate Change and International Trade <\/em>(2013),<em> International Trade and Investment Law <\/em>(2010), and<em> Theory and Practice of EC External Trade Law <\/em>(2008), among others.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, he authored more than 220 scholarly publications on international trade and WTO law, international environmental and energy law, EU law, international investment law and the interaction among them in American and European law reviews.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Book summary This book is about how to make international trade greener for a sustainable and prosperous future.
