On May 7th, 2014, the COB\u2019s Principle of Management, Operations Management and Logistics Management female students along with their professors, took an educational trip to Al Jomaih bottling plant. Al Jomaih is the business partner of Pesi Cola international in Saudi Arabia. It was established in 1957 and today they have more than 2,500 employees. With a dominant volume and market share Al Jomaih has gradually become one of the most respected beverage businesses in the Middle East region. Al Jomaih produces the full range of Pepsi Cola core brands and extensions including Pepsi, Mirinda, 7-Up, Mountain Dew, Aquafina water and Shani.<\/p>\n

A trip to a place like Al Jomaih, has been used to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Students had the opportunity to further understand learned concepts such as planning, quality management, production management and facilities layout. Furthermore, the trip enabled students to explore the complexities of managing sophisticated distribution systems and supply chains. Attending students were of the opinion that new learning environments like the Al Jomaih visit provide challenges that allow for more individual learning, while classroom teaching is often generalized. During the educational trip, students had a chance to appreciate some green practices. For\u00a0 example, through water conservation and the reduction of waste products and reducing its carbon footprint. Al Jomaih reduces its impact on the environment through various water, energy, and packaging initiatives.<\/p>\n
