Jason B. Macdonald, Associate Professor of Marketing at Boise State University, is the second author on this paper.<\/p>\n
Abstract of Paper<\/strong><\/p>\n In this article, we investigate the corporate political activities of firms operating in Saudi Arabia.\u00a0 It is generally agreed that firms in both developed and developing nations attempt to influence public policy.\u00a0 However, the corporate political strategy formulation process of firms in Saudi Arabia remains unclear. \u00a0To this end, we propose a model for comprehending political strategy decision-making in the Kingdom.\u00a0 Unlike other political strategy models, which either assess the approach (transactional or relational), participation level (individual or collective), and strategy choice (information, financial incentive, or constituency-building), or the affect of firm, industry, and country level variables on government influence, our framework incorporates the aforementioned along with power and push\/pull communication from the marketing literature into one cohesive framework.\u00a0 This model allows us to more accurately discern the nuances of the political strategy formulation process of firms in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n International Association for Business and Society Conference 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n In addition to the paper mentioned above, Maurice recently presented two papers at the International Association for Business and Society (IABS) Conference held in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, March 12-15, 2015 entitled: \u201cSocial Media and Corruption in Shame vs. Guilt Cultures\u201d (with Jason B. MacDonald and Giselle E. Antoine) and \u201cCorporate Political Activities in Saudi Arabia: A Qualitative Exploration\u201d (with Jason B. MacDonald). Maurice was also responsible for organizing and participating in a symposium on religion and corporate social responsibility entitled \u201cPutting Faith in Business: Past Research and Current Questions\u201d at the IABS Conference.
