The Saudi National Day is celebrated to commemorate the renaming of the Kingdom of Najd and Hijaz to Saudi Arabia by a royal decree from King Abdul Aziz Bin Saud in 1932.
This year Alfaisal University celebrated the 89th National Day on the 18th of September with patriotic vigour and excitement. The Student Development Committee (SDC) arranged a grand setup on the ground floor in the hall of College of Science. The entire place was decorated with sweeping traditional red carpets, stalls decorated with ethnic objects reflecting the pure Saudi culture, a traditional tent and huge swaying country flags.
The presentation that followed included the folklore dance with swords by professional presenters, songs sung on the beat of Kannan (Duff). Sweets and snacks were arranged for the students, faculty and guests. Live falcons were brought in to give a complete look to the national theme.
Alfaisal President Dr. Mohammad Alhayaza, AlfaisAL Vice Presidents H.E Princess Maha AlSaud and Dr. Khaled Alkattan graced the festivities with their presence and enjoyed the demonstration arranged by the students alongside guests, staff and faculty.
