This spring, the Alfaisal Wellbeing Office (AWO) delivered two standout wellness initiatives aimed at promoting inclusive physical activity and community engagement: the 2nd cohort of “Never Too Late to Ride a Bike” and the 2025 edition of the “Journey to 5K” training program. Both efforts are central to AWO’s mission to create a supportive environment where all members of the Alfaisal community, regardless of background or experience, can build confidence, improve fitness, and connect with others.
The Never Too Late to Ride a Bike initiative continued to break new ground by supporting adult learners, particularly those who had never learned to cycle, in developing this essential life skill. Participants received guided instruction, encouragement, and peer support, resulting in meaningful progress and personal milestones. The second cohort reflected strong interest from across the university, and reaffirmed the value of inclusive, skills-based wellness programs that cater to previously underserved groups.
Meanwhile, the 2025 “Journey to 5K” provided an opportunity for new and returning runners to train together in a structured, motivating environment. In partnership with the WeRun coaching team, weekly training sessions were held on Tuesday evenings, helping participants gradually build their endurance and confidence in preparation for a community 5K race on May 23, 2025. This year also introduced the Coach-in-Training™ (CIT) component, offering selected students and staff a pathway to develop leadership skills and gain practical coaching experience alongside seasoned mentors.
Together, these programs reflect Alfaisal University’s commitment to wellness as a journey rather than a destination. By lowering barriers and providing meaningful entry points to physical activity, the Alfaisal Wellbeing Office continues to support a campus culture rooted in health, inclusion, and personal growth.
