Alfaisal University congratulates Fareeda Mukhtar, MBBS, MA, Lecturer in Clinical Skills at the College of Medicine, for winning first place in the Research Poster Competition at the International Health Simulation Conference (IHSC24), held December 1-2, 2024, at King Fahad Medical City.
Her research, “Cognitive Load Effect on Intraoperative Teaching: Randomized Controlled Study Using a Simulated OR Environment,” explores the impact of operating room environment on teaching effectiveness in surgical settings. This study was part of a larger project aimed at improving surgical education and bridging the gap between educational theories and practices. Additionally, Dr. Fareeda’s work involved technical surgical skills training, ranging from basic skills to performing complete surgical procedures using simulation. This research has significant implications for surgical educators, as it may help them to better understand how to optimize their instructional strategies to enhance the learning experience for their trainees.
