The Alfaisal University community beams with pride as our exceptional students, faculty, and staff showcased remarkable athleticism at the Riyadh Marathon 2024, clinching medals across various distances, including the challenging 42K marathon. This achievement is not only a demonstration to their perseverance and skill but also reflects the vibrant spirit and dedication that Alfaisal University nurtures.
Behind this success is the dedicated volunteer group “We Run,” who have been instrumental in training our athletes with our weekly runs organized by Alfaisal’s Department of Family and Community Medicine (AU-DFCM). Their commitment has shone through, with after-hours coaching sessions on campus that have evidently paid off.
In a gesture of appreciation, the Department of Family and Community Medicine (Dr. Baraa Alghalyini, Dr. Racha Khaled, Dr. Abdul Rehman Zia Zaidi, Dr. Fatima Adem, and Dr. Zainab Iftikhar) honored the “We Run” coaches and team. Dr. Baraa Alghalyini, Vice Dean, College of Medicine, presented awards to Captain Dr. Sarah Farhoud, Coach Sami Bayounus, and Coach Mishael AlShammari, acknowledging their invaluable contribution to the runners’ preparation and success.
The group photo captures the essence of this celebration, where faculty, coaches, and Alfaisal athletes share a moment of joy and unity. This event has not only highlighted individual talents but also the collective endeavor of Alfaisal University in promoting health, sportsmanship, and excellence.
We commend all participants and congratulate our medalists for their outstanding performance and for bringing glory to Alfaisal University. The determination and team spirit displayed by our runners are indeed a source of inspiration for us all.
