Prince Abdulaziz Bin Ayyaf Competition for Humanizing Cities_ First Lecture & Introduction at Alfaisal University.
On Sunday, February 18th, Alfaisal University hosted the inaugural lecture and student assembly for the Prince Abdulaziz Bin Ayyaf Competition for Humanizing Cities. This event saw the participation of students from five esteemed universities: Alfaisal University, King Saud University, Prince Sultan University, Al Yamamah University, and Dar Al-Uloum University. The lecture, spearheaded by the competition’s organizing team comprising Dr. Sameeh Al-Arabi and Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Hassan from King Saud University, along with Dr. Alsaleh Sugati from the Quality of Life Program, marked the beginning of an ambitious endeavor.
The overarching objective of this competition is to cultivate a deeper understanding of city humanization, foster improvements in the quality of life within Saudi cities, and instigate an academic and cultural movement that garners the support and endorsement of relevant authorities. Ultimately, the aim is to nurture a cohort of architects and planners who are committed to enhancing the living standards within residential neighborhoods.
Twenty-four fourth-year architectural engineering students have enthusiastically enrolled in this competition, each with the shared goal of conceptualizing designs and systems capable of elevating the quality of life and enriching the pedestrian experience in Riyadh’s neighborhoods.
