Alfaisal University College of Pharmacy celebrates a significant achievement as students Rahaf Yaseen, Arwa Alhaj Issa and Mayas Alnan emerged victorious in the 6th SIPHA Clinical Skills Competition. The competition, held over three days from January 21st to 24th, was part of the 7th Saudi International Pharmaceutical Sciences Meeting and Workshops (SIPHA), an annual conference attracting stakeholders from all sectors of the pharmacy field.
Featuring 35 teams from 24 national and 10 international universities, the 6th SIPHA Clinical Skills Competition tested students through three intensive rounds. In the initial round at Alfaisaliah Tower, teams were tasked with creating comprehensive pharmaceutical care plans targeting each of the patients’ concerns for a complex medical case. Alfaisal’s team excelled, demonstrating their skills and securing a spot among the top ten teams qualifying to the next stages.
The competition’s second round took place at the Simulation and Skills Development Center at Princess Nourah Bint Abdul Rahman University, where teams navigated real-life patient scenarios. Alfaisal university pharmacy students demonstrated their ability in pharmacist-patient interactions, treatment planning, counseling, and addressing patient inquiries, earning them a place in the final round
On the final day of the competition, the four remaining teams engaged in a jeopardy-style contest on stage, going head-to head, culminating into the final showdown between Alfaisal University and Ibn Sina University.
Surpassing every last obstacle, the Alfaisal University team mentored by alumna Dr. Shaden Hassan Alkhatib took the lead, attaining first place. This achievement stands as a testament to the quality of instruction and applied skills cultivated at the Alfaisal College of Pharmacy, showcasing the dedication, talent, and excellence of our students and faculty.
