Alfaisal University IT services participated in the MOTAH program for general public awareness on open source software(http://motah.org.sa/) conducted by KACST (King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology) on 27th Feb 2012 . The IT Director shared the university’s strategy with regards to the utilization of modern learning techniques and to select cost effective solutions aligned to accomplish the university requirements. The learning management system at Alfaisal University along with other open source applications was briefed to the audience . Alfaisal won third prize , the first went to CITC followed by SAUDI ARAMCO.
The Motah mission is to encourage and promote the use of free and open source software, within the community by establishing strong partnerships with multiple agents in the public and private sector which provide logistics, technical training, legal and strategic support to interested parties in the region.
The award was open to all private and governmental organizations, and institutions within Saudi Arabia.The participants went through a number of rigorous cycles for the selection process. Alfaisal university which is still very much in its infancy found itself competing with leading organizations like SAUDI ARAMCO & CITC.
The Award ceremony is scheduled to take place later this month at KACST under the patronage of Dr. Mohammad Al Suwaiyel, President King Abdulaziz City for Science & Technology.
