Alfaisal University is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our faculty and students who participated in the prestigious AMEE 2024, held from August 24-28, 2024, hosted by the International Association for Health Professions Education at the Messe Congress Centre in Basel, Switzerland. Association for Medical Education (AMEE) in Europe is the largest global medical education conference, bringing together educators, researchers, and practitioners from around the world to discuss innovations and advancements in medical education. This year’s theme, “Develop Your Educational Career: Connect, Grow, and Inspire with AMEE 2024,” focused on how best to engage with existing knowledge to guide practice, develop new knowledge, and how to ensure that medical education is impactful for learners, patients, and society.
This year, Alfaisal University was represented by the Department of Family and Community Medicine, with one oral presentation and two poster presentations, showcasing the dedication and expertise of our community in advancing medical education.

Oral Presentation:
- Dr. Abdul Rehman Zia Zaidi and Dr. Baraa Alghalyini delivered an insightful presentation on “Integrating SDGs into Medical Education: Evaluating Impact on 1st Year Medical Student Perspectives and Curriculum Development.” This presentation explored the integration of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the medical curriculum and its impact on student learning and development.
Poster Presentations:
- Baraa Alghalyini, alongside Zainab Iftikhar, Fatima Adem, Mohammed Amin Alswes, Racha Khaled, and Abdul Rehman Zia Zaidi, presented a poster titled “Integrating Refugee Health Education into the Medical Curriculum: A Novel Approach for Medical Students in a Mid to High-Income Country.” This innovative project addresses the importance of refugee health education in medical training, an increasingly vital topic in today’s global health landscape.
- Baraa Alghalyini, with Shahd Hosam Alyousof and Bader Abou Shaar, presented another poster on “Exploring Social Determinants of Health Among MPH Students in Saudi Arabia.” This research delves into the influence of social determinants on the health perspectives of Masters of Public Health (MPH) students, contributing to a broader understanding of public health education in Saudi Arabia.
