Alfaisal University congratulates Dr. Baraa Alghalyini and Dr. Abdul Rehman Zia Zaidi, from the Department of Family and Community Medicine, College of Medicine, for their outstanding representation at the Family Medicine Forum (FMF) 2024, held from November 6-9 at the Vancouver Convention Centre, Canada.
The Family Medicine Forum, organized annually by The College of Family Physicians of Canada, is the largest gathering of family physicians in the country, serving as a premier platform for professionals in the field- offering educational opportunities, professional development sessions, and showcasing research that addresses both current and emerging challenges in healthcare.
This year, Dr. Alghalyini and Dr. Zaidi presented 13 research abstracts, demonstrating Alfaisal University’s leadership in family medicine research. Their work addressed diverse topics such as innovations in public health, advancements in medical education, and improvements in clinical practice, these presentations highlighted solutions to pressing issues and generated meaningful discussions among attending physicians, researchers, and educators.
Dr. Alghalyini also delivered a presentation titled “Advancing Women’s Excellence in Family Medicine,” which showcasing an innovative online leadership course aimed at connecting a global community of early- to mid-career women leaders in family medicine. The initiative, co-presented with Praseedha Janakiram, highlighted the importance of cultivating leadership and collaboration among women in the field, empowering women physicians to excel in their careers through mentorship and global networking.
The contributions of Dr. Alghalyini and Dr. Zaidi at FMF 2024 showcase Alfaisal University’s commitment to advancing healthcare through research and education, bringing international recognition to the institution.
