Alfaisal University proudly hosted a landmark event on January 16, 2025, to celebrate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Triathlon Federation (STF). This collaboration aims to cultivate a culture of wellness and athleticism within the university and beyond, offering opportunities for training, research, and community engagement.
The MoU signing ceremony, held at Algosaibi Hall, was blessed by the presence of senior leadership from Alfaisal University, including Prof. Khaled AlKattan, VP for Finance and Administration and Dean of the College of Medicine. Prof. AlKattan signed the MoU on behalf of Alfaisal University, while Mr. Ali Samih Magboul, President of the Saudi Triathlon Federation, signed on behalf of STF.
The event was led by Dr. Baraa Alghalyini and attended by esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Racha Khaled, Dr. Abdul Rehman Zia Zaidi, Dr. Rawan Elshaer, Dr. Farah Almassri, and Dr. Aya Alazam. A delegation from King Faisal School also participated, furthering collaboration by offering access to their facilities for triathlon training and events.
A highlight of the day was the workshop, “From Zero to Tri-Hero: Beginner’s Triathlon Workshop,” delivered by Dr. Dina Altayeb, the first Arab female Ironman Kona World Championship finisher and a board member of STF. Dr. Altayeb shared her inspiring journey and practical insights into triathlon, motivating attendees to embrace this dynamic sport.
This partnership aims to go beyond the scope of a student club, involving faculty, staff, and the broader community. Key initiatives under the MoU include:
- Establishing a triathlon club at Alfaisal University.
- Hosting workshops, events, and races to promote wellness and endurance sports.
- Collaborating on joint research and sports science initiatives.
- Offering STF-supported training programs to athletes of all levels.
The impressive attendance from all colleges of Alfaisal University highlighted the institution’s commitment to holistic development and interdisciplinary engagement.
