College of Business invited Mr. Mohammed AL-Shareef to be part of CoB’s Executive Lecture Series. Mr. Mohammed is the Senior Community Investment – Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator at BAE Systems and Member of the Board Of Trustees at King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue. Mr. Mohammed is a Certified Trainer and was awarded the Most Persistent Person in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He holds master’s degree in Crisis Management from Naif Arab University for Security Sciences and a Bachelor of Military Sciences from Air Defense College in Jeddah.
The lecture titled “Persuasion and Influence Skills” was presented to the students of College of Business. The presentation took place on Wednesday, October 27th,2021 in the Lecture Theatre (F).
Mr. Mohammed started the lecture by quoting the writer Dale Carnegie “When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but with creatures bristling with prejudice and motivated by pride and vanity.” He then defined persuasion as the process of converting or adapting the opinions of others into a targeted and desired opinion. He emphasized that persuasion is a problem-solving strategy that relies on appeals rather than force. Throughout the lecture, he provided examples to illustrate the factors to be considered when perusing others to agree with an idea by rational and emotional means.
After that, he spoke about persuasive personality characters and traits. He emphasized that self-confidence is the most important character that must be present when trying to peruse others. Finally, Mr. Mohammed discussed some psychological tricks to influence others in a humour and simple ways with examples.
The lecture is part of College of Business Executive Lecture Series to provide Alfaisal University students and guests from the business community the opportunity to learn from some of the country’s leading executives and leaders as they talk about their experiences.
