H.E. Mr. Al-Gwaiz started the lecture by emphasizing the importance of Financial Planning. He stated that personal financial planning might include some or all of the following: budgeting, retirement planning, saving, insurance, and getting out of debt. Financial planning can be done on your own or with a professional. Financial planning is very important as it supplements the social security income. He explained how social security is designed to provide help in areas such as old age pension, elderly health care, occupational hazard, maternity leaves, and unemployment insurance.

H.E Mr. Al-Gwaiz then focused on challenges facing prudent financial planning and financial mis-management consequences. Some of the challenges could be culture that doesn’t encourage financial discipline; income is spent as it is received; poor investment decisions, and exaggerated expectations from government.

Department of Finance at the College of Business introduced a new course called “Financial Planning” and it encourages all COB students to benefit from this course.

The lecture is part of College of Business Executive Lecture Series to provide Alfaisal University students and guests from the business community the opportunity to learn from some of the country’s leading executives and leaders as they share their experiences.  College of Business sponsors the weekly Executive Lecture Series to bridge the gap between the world of leadership and business education.
