The Book entitled “The Education in Anatomical Sciences” (Novapublisher, New York) published recently is very special to all of us. The book has been dedicated to Alfaisal University, edited by Prof. Paul Ganguly and created by a concerted effort of the faculty of College of Medicine and the world experts in the field of anatomy. The preface is written by Prof. Khaled Al-Kattan, Dean and Dr. Wael Al-Kattan, Director of Academic Affairs, College of Medicine. The best part is that many of the senior students also took part in writing their perception of anatomy program providing a concept that Alfaisal is also student-centered. In fact, our Provost Dr. Faisal Abdulaziz Al-Mubarak writes in one of his e-mails to Dr. Ganguly that “Dear Prof Ganguly, I received with great appreciation and pleasure the copy of Education In Anatomical Sciences, edited by yourself. I commend you and Al Faisal CoM faculty under the encouragement of Dean Al Kattan on this landmark in the history of AU. I also commend you for the magnanimous idea of inviting the students to contribute Chapter 17 to the book under you kind supervision, which accurately emphasizes the centrality of our students in our education as touted in our Vision and Mission”.
Anatomy is the language of medicine and has indeed a great influence on the history of medicine. The book for the first time addresses education in anatomy (how best can we teach anatomy) and deserves to be valued greatly in medical schools engaged in integrated systems curriculum. The book will undoubtedly be well received not only by regional medical schools but also by those world-wide. The overall effort is certainly in the line with the wish and vision of Late King Faisal.
Congratulations to all!!!
