Dr. Fowzan Sami Alkuraya, Professor of Human Genetics at the College of Medicine, Alfaisal University has been awarded the Basic Medical Sciences Award at the 41st cycle of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) Awards.
In addition to his role at Alfaisal, Dr. Fouwzan Sami Alkuraya is the Founding Chairman of the Department of Translational Genomics at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center. He graduated with first class honors from College of Medicine, King Saud University and received his postgraduate medical and research education at Harvard Medical School in the fields of clinical and molecular genetics. He is American Board certified in Pediatrics, Clinical Genetics and Molecular Genetics.
His research is focused on understanding the role of genes in health and disease with emphasis on developmental defects especially those common to Arabia. His efforts have greatly contributed to the prevention of these disorders. He has more than 550 peer-reviewed publications.
