Sewickley, Pennsylvania, USA – Simio, LLC® (http://www.simio.com), an industry leader in simulation software, has awarded a $139,000 grant to the College of Engineering of Alfaisal University.
The grant is in the form of Simio® Academic Edition Software and will allow Alfaisal’s engineering students to learn and create simulations using Simio’s innovative and state-of-the-art software. The industrial engineering faculty at Alfaisal University now use Simio to teach students the core competencies of engineering and systems design for solving real world problems in a visually-rich environment.
“Seeking to modernize the software taught for discrete event simulation, and after evaluating different options, we decided to adopt Simio.” said Dr. Gilles Cormier, one of Alfaisal University’s industrial engineering professors. “Simio allows our students to create robust simulations and provides a mechanism to experiment with them. It also provides a true object-based 3D modeling environment which lets the students construct a 3D model in a single step from a top-down 2D view, and easily switch to a 3D view. Simio incorporates objects from Google’s 3D Warehouse allowing the students to create awesome animations without sacrificing time.”
Simio’s Academic Edition Software mirrors that of its commercial quality software. It is unique in its offering in that it allows users to rapidly model almost any system using object library development and 3D animation.
Simio, LLC® is a private company headquartered just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is dedicated to delivering leading edge solutions for the design, emulation, and scheduling of complex systems.
