Mr. Mohammed A. El-Kuwaiz, co-founder and Managing Director of Derayah, the first and only independent one-stop shop for individual investors in the Middle East, spoke about Entrepreneurship to the students of Management of Innovation at the College of Business. The presentation took place on the 5th of November 2012.
Mr El-Kuwaiz introduced his company and gave the students some insights to assist them when entering the business world. His company focuses on empowering individual investors by offering a one-stop shop where they can seamlessly and conveniently access multiple markets and multiple investment products from multiple providers, as well as all the advice, research, news and information they need to make informed decisions on their own. Derayah (Mr.El-Kuwaiz’s company) has been the fastest growing investment company over 2011 and 2012. It is currently the top ranked non-bank financial institution in the region in terms of traded volume.
Mr El-Kuwaiz also highlighted some of the obstacles entrepreneurs face before they can achieve success in business. This was a valuable presentation for the students as it demonstrated the importance of being aware of issues with innovation and entrepreneurship that they could face when working in real scenarios. With presentations such as this the College of Business is bridging the gap between theory and practice and better preparing our business students for the real life situations they will face.
The group of students of Management of Innovation led by Dr. Ricardo Santa would like to thank Mr. El-Kuwaiz for his commitment and involvement with the academic endeavor and to miss Sara Zaki AlShowaier who organized the presentation.
