Alfaisal University College of Medicine, represented by the Dean Dr. Khaled Alkattan and several faculty members and students has participated in medical education lectures, oral short communications, E-posters, and in judging at SIMEC 2018 which took place on April 3-5. Some of our faculty members and students received well deserved awards.
Dr. Khaled Alkattan delivered a lecture entitled: “How Can We Create a Student Centered University” taking into consideration several institutional criteria including mission, vision, Curriculum, Methodology of Teaching, Matching University Design, Assessment, Teachers, Students, and Culture.
For a presentation entitled “Effect of Functioning Distractors on Internal Reliability of a Multiple Choice Questions Based Test”, and delivered by Dr. Karam Hamweyah, the 1st Faculty Prize Award in the category of Oral Short Communication at SIMEC 2018 has been received. Research team members include Dr. Mohammad Faisal Ikram, Dr. Shoukat Ali Arain, Dr. Ahmed Yaqinuddin, Dr. Karam Mazen Hamweyah, Dr. Pallab Kumar Ganguly, and Dr. Wael M. Alkattan.
The research entitled “Impact of Non Functioning Distractors on Item Discrimination, Difficuly, and Time Spent on Items; An Analysis of Computer Based Tests Using ExamSoft Platform” was presented by Dr. Faisal Ikram. Research team members include Dr. Mohammad Faisal Ikram, Dr. Shoukat Ali Arain, Dr. Ahmed Yaqinuddin, Dr. Hamza Yousef Suwan, Dr. Pallab Kumar Ganguly, and Dr. Wael M. Alkattan.
In addition, three students represented Alfaisal University at SIMEC 2018. Mi Rim Kim, 5th year medical student, Razan Almesned, 3rd year medical student, and Abdulaziz Hussam Abed, 4th year medical student.
