Dr. Baraa Alghalyini, an adjunct faculty at the Department of Family and Community Medicine, has participated in “The Interprofessional Applied Practical Teaching and Learning in the Health Professions” (INTAPT) course, which took place on February 16, 2024, at the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.
Alongside her respected colleagues Prof. Helen Batty, Dr. Abbas Ghavam-Rassoul, and Dr. Judith Peranson, Dr. Baraa Alghalyini co-presented on the crucial topic of “𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 & 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬.”
In addition, Dr. Alghalyini collaborated with Dr. Nirtal Shah and Dr. Abbas Ghavam-Rassoul to present a session focused on “Curriculum Design.” She was also actively involved in evaluating and assessing the poster presentations of INTAPT students and a workshop.
The INTAPT program is a heaven for healthcare professionals looking to hone their teaching skills and embrace interprofessional collaboration. The program delved into a spectrum of topics, from applying adult learning theory and the art of curriculum design to the science behind effective evaluation. The shared team goal was to sculpt educational strategies that resonate with health professionals at all stages of their careers. This program is not just about imparting knowledge; it’s about shaping the future of healthcare education.
Heartfelt gratitude goes from Dr. Alghalyini to the University of Toronto, Department of Family and Community Medicine and all involved in making this program a beacon of excellence in interprofessional health education, especially Dr. Danielle Martin, Dr. Helen Batty, Dr. Abbas Ghavam-Rassoul, and Dr. Judith Peranson. This opportunity wouldn’t been possible without the ongoing support and guidance of Alfaisal leadership.
