On the 22nd of April 2018, a French Delegation from the UNESCO, accompanied by the French Ambassador, visited Alfaisal University – College of Medicine – and conducted a course about Ethics Teachers Training from 22 to 25 April 2018.
This Course is a collaborative effort involving UNESCO, Alfaisal University and the Saudi National Commission for UNESCO and offers a unique opportunity for participants to enhance their teaching capacities in ethics.
As part of UNESCO’s multifaceted capacity-building strategy, the Ethics Teacher Training Course (ETTC) aims to:
– Introduce the participants to the means and resources of teaching ethics;
– Teach the participants the methodologies and methods of teaching ethics; and
– Assess and provide feedback on the participants’ demonstrations of teaching skills under the guidance of experienced teachers.
On the other hand, Dr. Abdulkarim AlMakadama, head of the organizing committee highlighted in his remarks the great effort that UNESCO has put into developing a consensus in ethical topics among medical schools and the role of the educational institutes in this aspect. It’s worth to mention that Alfaisal University has been actively involved in these activities and this course can be considered as a start point to mutual collaboration for future programs.
