The College of Pharmacy at Alfaisal University has arranged an elective summer training program for second and third year pharmacy students at local pharmaceutical companies. Training was thought to be crucial to introduce the students to the importance of the pharmacist role in the industry sector. One of the pharmaceutical companies where Alfaisal University students are trained is Sandoz, a Novartis division and a global leader in generic pharmaceuticals and biosimilars.
The program lasts for a period of three weeks during which the students are exposed to the pharmacist services in the industrial sector including managing the regulatory processes governing the products approval and sales, an overview of the research process and the marketing and sales services. This experience will help the students in decision making for their future careers as pharmaceutical companies are one of the major sectors for pharmacists to enrol themselves if they are interested in that field .
