On March 7, 2024, H.E. Professor Mohammed Al-Suwaiyel visited Alfaisal University, where he was warmly received by H.E. Professor Mohammed Alhayaza, President of Alfaisal University, H.R.H. Dr. Maha Alsaud, Vice President For External Relations, and Dr. Muhammad Anan, Acting Dean of the College of Engineering.
During his visit, Professor Al-Suwaiyel joined the leadership of Alfaisal University on a tour of the 15th Annual Research Day. He had the opportunity to witness students showcasing their posters, each highlighting their respective majors and areas of study.
Additionally, Professor Al-Suwaiyel delivered a captivating lecture titled “The Arabic Origins of Cryptology.” The talk shed light on an often overlooked aspect of Arab heritage, emphasizing that cryptology has received limited attention compared to other fields. The presentation explored the timeline of cryptology, examining the manuscripts’ profound impact on its history and originality. It also briefly touched upon the utilization of cryptology in Andalusia and Morocco.
Professor Al-Suwaiyel’s findings have significantly contributed to the understanding of cryptology. The discovery has not only corrected misconceptions but has also revitalized the use of original Arabic terminology in this field. Furthermore, the research has elevated the significance of al-Kindi, an influential figure, in various books and articles. In summary, the presentation underscored the substantial contributions of Arabs to cryptology and their profound impact on its broader history.
