The Game Development Bootcamp was successfully held at Alfaisal University for four months from March – July 2024. A joint initiative with the Misk Foundation and lead by Dr. Areej Al-Wabil – Director of the AI Centre at Alfaisal University, this bootcamp aimed to enhance game development skills amongst youth, increase local production of games while promoting and preserving National traditions and culture through the medium of digital games. The program was taught in-person to a cohort of 60 students and offered three tracks including story-writing, game animation and game programming.
By the end of the bootcamp, students could create game narratives, add sound and visual effects, create levels, comfortably work on Unity engine, and had acquired the skills needed to design, upload, market and sell their game ideas and products. Each successful graduate received a certification from the Digital Game Association, enhancing their career opportunities with local game developers/companies.
Alfaisal University is proud to align with the National vision of promoting Saudi heritage and culture. We commend our faculty for their groundbreaking work in initiatives integrating arts, culture and digital transformation. We hope to continue providing dynamic and engaging opportunities for our students and the community to upgrade their technical skills in emerging areas.
