Humaira Shahnawaz Khan Khalidi and Samer Hajjaj Saleh Ali Al Hajjaj, first-year medical students at Alfaisal University, secured 3rd place (10,000 SAR) at the Innovate for Impact Creative Sparks Challenge, held during the 8th International Conference – Women in Data Science (WiDS) Riyadh at Prince Sultan University, April 13–14, 2025.
Their award-winning project, AQUA-AI, is an AI-powered system that detects dehydration and heat stress in real time using thermal and motion AI paired with QR-based smart ID technology. Designed for large-scale settings such as Hajj, construction sites, and public events, the innovation addresses critical public health concerns and contributes to both Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The judging panel included leading experts from Cisco and NEOM, and the project received further recognition in NEOM’s official newspaper publication, underlining its national significance and forward-thinking approach.
