The Alfaisal Neurological Surgery Bootcamp was a one-day course held at King Faisal Specialist Hospital (KFSH) Simulation Center on Saturday, 26th of August 2023. Supervised by Dr. Naif AlOtaibi (consultant neurosurgeon at King Fahad Medical City) This course was designed for senior medical students, sub-interns, junior neurological surgery residents and anyone interested in the field of neurosurgery (for online sessions) to provide a hybrid and integrative learning experience for aspiring neurosurgeons. It included online and in-person theoretical sessions by national and internationally renowned speakers along with hands-on workstations for various neurosurgical interventions, including:
- Basics of suturing
- Craniotomy + Pterional Approach
- Anatomical exploration
- Virtual Reality
- Microsuturing and Vascular Anastomosis
- Aneurysm clipping
- Brain Tumor resection utilizing fluorescence
- EVD insertion
This course has been successful with the support of special guests, Dr. Mahmoud Alyamany (Head of Health section at NEOM), Dr. Mohammed Alomran (Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto), and Dr. Naif H.
