Faculty and students attended the University’s first Research Colloquium on Wednesday 5 November 2008. The guest speaker, Dr. Maher Alodan, VP for Research at Alfaisal, spoke about Research Funding and Directions in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Alan Goodridge, Provost and VP for Academic Affairs, and Acting President of Alfaisal gave a brief welcome to the 65 participants who attended the event.
The Alfaisal Research Colloquium aims at bringing together faculty, students, and external experts to share a common thought process involving various fields of interest and expertise. Alfaisal University will host these events every two weeks, which will provide participants with an opportunity to be exposed alternatively to a wide range of faculty and invited guest speakers from government, industry and the private sector. The overall Colloquium objectives include:
- Sharing research areas of interest
- Facilitating research outreach via face to face meetings with government, industry and private sectors
- Promoting research collaboration and initiatives within Alfaisal, KSA, the region and the world
The Colloquium takes place on Campus on alternate Wednesdays from 12:00 noon -1:00 pm (40 minute presentation followed by 20 minute discussion time). The Colloquium venue is the Auditorium Rm. S1046 (Females Rm. S2041) in the College of Science Building.
Dr. Paul Ganguly, Professor of Anatomy, College of Medicine is the designated Research Colloquium Coordinator for faculty speakers. The Office of Research (OOR) is the designated coordinator for external speakers. For comments and suggestions please contact:
