Alfaisal University is proud to announce that a team of Software Engineering students successfully qualified for the final round of SDAIA’s Smart U competition, a segment of the global Imagine Cup project. The team—comprising Siwar Raslan, Rahaf Alqahtani, and Leen Yarkhan—submitted their Software Engineering capstone project for the competition which built on their internships at MIT in the Summer of 2024 in collaboration with KFSHRC’s Autism Research Center, titled “Autism Diagnosis Screening System Using Jibo, a Social Robot.” The project aims to equip therapists and caregivers with meaningful, actionable insights using interactive mini-games that assess specific developmental traits such as joint attention, turn-taking, and language development.
In a congratulatory message, President, Dr. Muhammad Alhayaza expressed immense pride in the students and their faculty mentor, Dr. Areej Al-Wabil- Director of the AI Center at Alfaisal University. He stated:
