College of Business invited Mr. John Gollifer & Mr. Rayan Al-Karawito to be part of the college’s Lecture Series. Mr. John Gollifer is the General Manager of the Middle East IR Association (MEIRA) and Mr. Rayan Al-Karawi is the founder and Chairman of the Saudi Chapter the Middle East Investor Relations Association (MEIRA KSA).
The lecture titled “The World of Investor Relations (IR)” was presented to the students of College of Business. The presentation took place on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 online through GotoWebinar.
The lecture was organized by Tadawul and it aimed to introduce College of Business students to the world of Investor Relations (IR), a multi-faceted strategic company function at all companies that seek external investors and other stakeholders. Accordingly, IR has broad appeal to undergraduates who wish to consider joining the financial markets, capital markets and any business that plans to grow and use external funding, be it debt or equity finance.
Mr. John & Mr. Rayan gave a brief introduction of internationally accepted definition of Investor Relations (IR). It is a strategic management responsibility that integrates finance, communications, marketing and securities law compliance to enable the most effective two-way communication between a company. Mr. John then spoke about the role of IR & how it should appeal to anyone interested in the key corporate functions of many businesses, including household names, like Apple, Rolls-Royce and Saudi Aramco, for example. In a world of much uncertainty, post-COVID-19, the role of IR can become more important in the corporate world.
The lecture is part of College of Business Executive Lecture Series to provide Alfaisal University students and guests from the business community the opportunity to learn from some of the country’s leading executives and leaders as they talk about their experiences.
