On Dec. 4th 2015, the Software Engineering Department at the College of Engineering hosted a workshop by IBM about their latest cloud technology Bluemix. In an engaging three hours workshop, Mr. Mir Firasath Ali introduced our students and faculty to IBM® Bluemix™ and IBM® Bluemix™ DevOps Services, their architectures, and functionalities. He then discussed how these technologies could benefit the world of academia by introducing the IBM academic initiative for the cloud. The session was followed by a demo and a hand on lab. The IBM Saudi Arabia territory Manager, Mr. Abdulrahman Almousa, presented career opportunities at IBM, and encouraged our students to apply for a two years internship program for fresh graduates. He also mentioned the intention of IBM Saudi Arabia to open a new summer internship program in the near future.
Acting Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Nidal Nasser, said that “This event is meant to be the first step towards a stronger collaboration with one of the top industrial companies in the world in an effort to better equip Alfaisal University Software Engineering students with the top-notch skills required by the market to help them land their dream careers in one of a high demand and well paid profession, Software Engineering.”
