Inauguration Ceremony of the New Simulation Center of the College of Medicine

Alfaisal University Inaugurates Advanced Simulation Center at the College of Medicine

On February 9, 2026, Alfaisal University inaugurated the new Simulation Center at the College of Medicine’s Department of Clinical Skills, marking a significant milestone in advancing experiential medical education, clinical competency, and patient safety.

The inauguration took place under the patronage of HE Dr. Mohammed Bin Ali Alhayaza, President of Alfaisal University, and in the presence of Prof. Khaled Al-Kattan, Vice President for Finance and Administration and Dean of the College of Medicine. The event marked the official launch of the SIMStation Audio-Visual and OSCE systems, establishing the facility as a benchmark for simulation-based learning and assessment.

Advanced Simulation and Assessment Facilities

Located on the third floor of the College of Medicine building, the Simulation Center comprises four high-fidelity simulation rooms, each supported by a dedicated control room, and a large central debriefing room, all fully equipped with SIMStation audio-visual technology. These facilities enable realistic clinical simulations, live monitoring, synchronized recording, and structured debriefing to support reflective, performance-based learning.

During the inauguration, attendees observed a live immersive simulation scenario demonstrating the system’s real-time monitoring, multi-angle viewing, bookmarking, and secure recording capabilities, which enhance feedback quality and learning outcomes.

High Standard OSCE Center

The installation of the SIMStation OSCE system transforms the second floor into a centralized OSCE Center, featuring a reception area, a central control room, and 12 fully equipped OSCE stations. The digital platform supports standardized, competency-based assessments through live monitoring, automated station workflows, electronic scoring, annotation, and secure data management, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and consistency across examinations.

Comprehensive Clinical Skills Infrastructure

The Department of Clinical Skills spans three floors and is designed to support undergraduate and postgraduate medical training across disciplines. Facilities include 12 fully equipped teaching clinics, two large debriefing rooms with a capacity of 40–50 students each, featuring smart boards and multimedia presentation tools, storage areas for equipment and task trainers, standardized patient facilities, an ambulatory clinic, and faculty offices.

Each teaching clinic is equipped with a standard clinical setup, including patient examination beds, diagnostic instruments, and smart TV screens for instructional content and OSCE scenarios. The debriefing rooms support structured reflection, workshops, clerkship training, symposia, and academic meetings.

Bridging Theory and Clinical Practice

The Simulation Center provides a safe, controlled environment where learners develop diagnostic reasoning, procedural proficiency, communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills without risk to patients. Simulation-based education serves as a critical link between theoretical instruction and real-world clinical practice, supporting competency development, reducing error rates, and enhancing patient safety.
