International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare January 20-24, 2024 -San Diego California – Innovate. Disseminate. Educate. Advocate!

The Department of Clinical Skills of Alfaisal University College of Medicine was well represented at the Society for Simulation in Healthcare’s International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare, held January 20-24 in San Diego, Calif. Two faculty members and two teaching assistants from the Department of Clinical Skills gave four presentations during the scientific conference that explore the latest innovations and best practices in healthcare simulation and provides the tools and resources healthcare professionals need to advance their skills, impact change in delivery systems and practice, and, ultimately, to improve patient safety. They received very positive feedback from their faculty mentors as well as the audience. With this and previous IMSH presentations by department faculty, Alfaisal University is now being recognized as a leading simulation center in the sphere of global presence. The presentations and activities for each of the department’s participants in the conference are shared below.

Faculty: Dr. Cynthia Mosher

  • Meeting: Global Network for Simulation in Healthcare (GNSH). After attending the GNSH Summit in Dubai this past November Dr. Cynthia was invited to attend the GNSH gathering of board members that took place at IMSH during which she was invited to become a board member. This is a tremendous honor as GNSH is a thinktank of healthcare simulation leaders from around the world and their yearly summit meetings are by invitation only. Its purpose is to connect all sectors of the healthcare simulation community and to enhance value through shared vision, resources, and tools. GNSH leverages multiple groups and sectors in ways that single organizations cannot. GNSH provides a global discussion forum that promises to deliver resources and information relevant to all emerging simulation-based education communities. Objectives for GNSH are to promote the appropriate use of simulation in healthcare to improve patient care and safety, clinical service, training, research, and education and to leverage collective expertise and provide opportunities for global resource networkingThrough shared advocacy, to support and promote the effective and efficient use of simulation in Healthcare GNSH was initially started through the cooperation of SSH, INACSL, SESAM, and ASSH. Meetings have been held annually since 2010. Dr Cynthia will serve a three-year term as a board member, with potential for continuation.
