Makkah Governor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Alfaisal University, HRH Prince Khaled Alfaisal was presented the National Order of the Montenegrin Grand Star by HE President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanovic, at a Luncheon held in The Late King Faisal Palace on Tuesday 9 March 2010.
The event was attended by HRH Prince Turki Alfaisal; Branislave Micunovic; Montenegro Culture, Sport & Media Minister, HH Prince Bandar Al Saud; Chairman of the Executive Committee & Member of Board of Trustee of Alfaisal University, Anthony Bailey; Chairman of Painting & Patronage and the winners who came to receive their awards for the King Faisal International Prize.
HRH Prince Khaled renowned for his art received this award for his longstanding contribution to furthering cultural, artistic and educational understanding between Europe and the KSA.
Painting & Patronage was established by HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal under the High Patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, ten years ago together with its founding chairman HE Mr. Anthony Bailey. It funds exchange programmes, artistic summer schools and outreach programmes as well as exhibitions for Saudi Arabian and European artists. Previous programmes have taken place with the UK and Portugal among others.
“This is yet another illustration of the high regard of the lifetime achievements of HRH Prince Khalid Alfaisal, Montenegro is rich in culture and a diverse part of Europe, and Painting & Patronage look forward to engaging with its artistic community in the years to come” stated HE Anthony Bailey.
After the ceremony, The President of Montenegro and dignitaries attending were given a tour of Alfaisal University, where they met with Alfaisal University leadership, Dr. Ronald Bulbulian; Acting Provost, HRH Princess Maha Bint Mishari; Executive Director for External Affairs, Dr. Khalid Kattan; VP for Advancement & Dean College of Medicine, Dr. Abdulhamid Abduljabar; VP for student Affairs, Dr. Maher Alodan; VP for Research, and Dr. Ala AlBakri; Vice Provost for Accreditation and Quality Assurance, where they discussed the University’s mission in supporting the Kingdoms vision for higher education.
