It is our great pleasure to announce that three projects from the College of Medicine have been funded for a total of 4.3 million SAR over 2 years by the National Plan for Science, Technology and Innovation (NPSTI). The strategic research funds for NPSTI are administered by the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). The proposals, which had previously been recommended for funding, were resubmitted through the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSHRC), where all three faculty members hold adjunct appointments.
The successful faculty (PI) and projects are:
- Paul Ganguly (Project Title: Cardiac Function Hyper homomocysteinemie)
- Ahmed Yaqinuddin ( Project Title: Identification of Novel Diagnostic and Prognostic Markers for Bladder Cancer through Whole Genome Methylation Profiling)
- Peter Kvietys ( Project Title: Role of T Cells in LPS-Induced Lung Inflammation and Dysfunction)
On behalf of the Office of Research & Graduate Studies, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the successful faculty members.
NPSTI proposals have deadlines of September and March each year. Since Alfaisal University is a private institution applications need to be submitted through a government institution such as, for example, KFSHRC, KSU or KACST.
Once again congratulations are extended to the three winners of the NPSTI research grants and a special thanks to KFSHRC for facilitating the process.
