On Thursday October 11, the Alfaisal’s Electrical Engineering department hosted the first social for the year for the KSA Central Subsection of the Institute of the Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The event brought together academics and practicing electrical engineers to acquaint and discuss the subsection’s plan for the coming year.
The event started with CoE Dean Mohamed Anan giving a brief word welcoming visitors to the University campus, emphasizing Alfaisal’s continuous interest in bridging the academic and the professional domains, and its excitement about further collaboration with the IEEE KSA Central Subsection in the future.
This was followed by the Subsection’s chair, Dr. Abdullah Almuttiri, reviewing the Subsections plan to engage IEEE members in the Central region in various technical and social activities. He also stressed the need for IEEE student sections in the region to continue their activities, noting the Subsection’s readiness to support student activities. Dr. Almuttiri also urged to female IEEE members to be involved in the local happenings for IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) affinity group, indicating that these are high times for female practitioners to contribute to the engineering discipline in Saudi Arabia.
Following the talks, the floor was opened for questions and socializing. Throughout the event, displays showed last year activities for Alfaisal University IEEE Student Chapter.
The event was made possible by the University’s support through its Facilities and IT department, and the organization was overseen by CoE’s Eng. Aliaa Maar.
