The 2024-2025 academic year has been a big exhilarating period for the College of Pharmacy (COP) at Alfaisal University, during which it pursued the international accreditation process for its 6-year Pharm D program. This assessment represents a demonstration of the college’s commitment to academic success and ongoing improvement.
International Accreditation: AHPGS
In April 2024, the Quality and Accreditation Office (QAA) of the COP submitted the program’s comprehensive self-study report to the Accreditation Agency for Health and Social Sciences (AHPGS) for review and consideration for international accreditation. This self-study report outlined the college’s program structure, faculty qualifications, student outcomes, and infrastructure, ensuring it met the stringent requirements for global recognition. On December 3, 2024, a distinguished delegation from AHPGS arrived from Germany to conduct an on-site visit as part of the rigorous international accreditation process. During their visit, faculty, students, and staff from across the college actively engaged with the AHPGS team, offering insights into the college’s curriculum, teaching methods, research initiatives, and community service. The delegation meticulously reviewed all aspects of the program, including faculty credentials, student performance, physical infrastructure, and essential support systems such as IT services, student affairs, and the library, ensuring they were in alignment with high academic standards.
The AHPGS delegation’s visit included in-depth inspections and candid discussions with faculty and students, allowing them to gain a comprehensive understanding of the college’s strengths and areas of excellence. Following the site visit, the delegation provided valuable feedback, commending the college for its outstanding academic quality, robust curriculum, and strong infrastructure. They also praised the faculty’s commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment. On March 10, 2025, the college received the exciting news that the AHPGS had granted full accreditation status to the PharmD program at Alfaisal University, a prestigious recognition that is valid until September 30, 2030.
This entire process of international accreditation spanned nearly a year, culminating in an outstanding achievement that underscores the College of Pharmacy’s dedication to maintaining excellence in education, academic rigor, and community involvement. The successful accreditation is a direct result of the continuous and tireless efforts of the college’s QAA and its leadership in developing and nurturing a robust program that meets the highest academic standards. It also reflects the vision of Alfaisal University to provide students with a world-class education that prepares them to be leaders in the pharmaceutical field. This prestigious recognition affirms the university’s commitment to offering a degree program of international caliber that it can proudly stand behind for years to come.
