Riyadh, January 28 – 29, 2026: Alfaisal University participated in the International Conference on Data and AI Capacity Building (ICAN 2026), a leading global platform dedicated to advancing data, artificial intelligence, and human capability development. The conference brought together policymakers, academic institutions, and industry leaders to explore strategies for building future-ready skills and strengthening national AI ecosystems, with a focus on the role of education and a wide participation of national universities.
Alfaisal University’s participation reflects its strategic commitment to supporting Saudi Vision 2030 by aligning education, research, and innovation with national priorities in data and artificial intelligence. During ICAN 2026, the University presented a portfolio of academic and applied initiatives led by its faculty, highlighting interdisciplinary excellence and real-world impact.
Among the featured initiatives was AI in Architecture – Education Innovation, led by Abdulrahman Ahmed Alymani, which focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into architectural education and design processes, preparing future architects for intelligent, data-driven approaches to the built environment.

The University also presented its AI Literacy and Community Capacity Building initiative, led by Dr. Areej Al Wabil, which advances AI awareness through localized and culturally relevant education programs. The initiative emphasizes youth engagement, educator training, and responsible AI literacy to build foundational AI capabilities within the community.
In the healthcare domain, AI in Healthcare – Alfaisal Med-X, led by Dr. Mohamed Bahloul, focused on translational AI applications in medical imaging, clinical decision support, medical robotics, and digital health, bridging engineering innovation with clinical practice.
Additionally, Cognitive Robotics and Autonomous Systems (AlfaisalX), led by Dr. Anis Koubaa, highlighted advanced research in robotics, autonomous agents, UAVs, and intelligent systems, supporting national priorities in smart infrastructure, healthcare automation, and digital transformation.
Through its participation in ICAN 2026, Alfaisal University reaffirmed its role as a key contributor to national talent development, interdisciplinary research, and the advancement of data- and AI-driven solutions that support the Kingdom’s future.
