Alfaisal University’s College of Pharmacy is proud to announce that three of its students, Reem Al-Dorzi and Nouha El Alami (Year 6 PharmD interns), and Salman Alaali (Year 5 PharmD student), have been selected as winners of the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) 2026 Travel Award, with their research presentations also receiving the distinguished recognition of Top Rated E-Posters at the 31st International Society of Hypertension Scientific Meeting and 17th Emirates Cardiac Society Annual Conference (ISH–ECS 2026), held in Dubai, UAE, from October 22–25, 2026.
The conference, held under the theme “United to Control Hypertension: Smart Solutions,” brought together international experts, clinicians, and researchers to share advances in hypertension research, cardiovascular medicine, and emerging healthcare technologies. The three Alfaisal students participated virtually, under the supervision of Dr. Ibrahim Salman, and co-supervision of Dr. Omar Aladhami.
Their award-winning research explored innovative applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in cardiovascular science and included three studies:
- Reem Al-Dorzi: “Accuracy, Repeatability, and Reproducibility of Large Language Models for Baroreflex Analysis in Normotensive and Hypertensive Conditions”, evaluating the accuracy, consistency, and analytical efficiency of AI platforms in assessing cardiovascular autonomic function.
- Nouha El Alami: “Quantitative Assessment of Baroreflex Function Using ChatGPT” , investigating the accuracy and efficiency of ChatGPT in analyzing experimental baroreflex data compared with conventional analytical methods.
- Salman Alaali: “AI Evidence Retrieval in Cancer Therapy-Related Cardiotoxicity: A Pilot Study”, examining the reliability and scientific validity of AI-assisted literature retrieval in cardiovascular and cardio-oncology research.
Further adding to this achievement, all three research abstracts are scheduled for publication in the prestigious Journal of Hypertension, the official scientific journal of the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) and the European Society of Hypertension (ESH). This forthcoming publication will further enhance the international visibility of the students’ research contributions and highlight the College’s growing engagement in AI-driven cardiovascular research.
