On Saturday the 26th of October, Alfaisal University hosted the Saudi Wellness Meet: “Start with Women,” a pioneering event dedicated to advancing women’s health and holistic wellness within the Kingdom. Organized by the Alfaisal Wellness and Health Office (AU-WHO) in collaboration with the Rofaida Women’s Health Organization. The event marked a significant milestone in the national wellness landscape.
The event featured opening remarks by the founder of the Saudi Wellness Meet,and the organizer of this event, Dr. Baraa Alghalyini that set a tone of inspiration and community, followed by two insightful panel discussions. Panel 1: Screening and Prevention focused on topics such as cervical cancer survivorship and holistic approaches to women’s health, with expert insights from speakers including Eng. Sara Al Otaibi and Dr. Ahmed Al Ayobi. Panel 2: Mental Health and Wellbeing addressed critical issues like stress management, sleep quality, and the role of physical activity in building mental resilience, guided by Dr. Mohammed Alhajji, Dr. Nadia Banafae, and Dr. Sarah Farhoud.
In addition to panel discussions, attendees engaged in interactive workshops and activities designed to promote holistic health. Hands-on sessions included yoga, pilates, and breathing techniques, while outdoor biking and running activities fostered community building and active engagement.
The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback, reinforcing Alfaisal’s commitment to advancing wellness initiatives. Special thanks were extended to university leadership, including HE Prof. Mohammed Alhayaza and HRH Dr. Maha Al Saud, Prof. Khaled AlKattan as well as the Department of Family & Community Medicine (Dr. Baraa Alghalyini, Dr. Racha Khaled, Dr. Abdul Rehman Zia Zaidi, Dr. Rawan Elshaer, Dr. Farah Almasri, Dr. Aya Alazm) and the many volunteers who helped bring this vision to life.
The Saudi Wellness Meet represents more than a one-day event—it is the beginning of a movement toward equitable and accessible wellness in Saudi Arabia. With plans to hold additional sessions on topics such as healthcare for professionals, disabilities, and longevity, Alfaisal University is committed to empowering communities and bridging wellness gaps.
