Canoo Visit – showcasing Canoo EVs alongside Alfaisal Solar Car Project

On Thursday, January 26, 2023, Alfaisal University had the pleasure of hosting Canoo, a US-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, alongside our Solar Car Project at Alfaisal University. This is their inaugural visit to Saudi Arabia to establish partnerships in the region. In attendance was HRH Prince Turki Alfaisal, Mr. Tony Aquila (Canoo CEO), and AU leadership. Our team Dr. Ahmed Oteafy (Project Supervisor), Latifa AlHgbani (Student Team Leader) and Amaan Ahmed Zubairi (SE Team member) presented the solar car alongside two design iterations of Canoo vehicles.
Canoo is distinguished by their innovative approach to EV design. The company has developed breakthrough multi-purpose platforms and digital ecosystems that are reinventing the automotive landscape with bold innovations in design, pioneering technologies, and a unique business model that spans the full lifecycle of the vehicle. They have a single platform enclosing their drivetrain and battery pack, with multiple options for their body that fits on top. Their modular platform can maximize vehicle interior space that and customize it to support a wide range of vehicle application for customers. They are visiting the Kingdom to establish partnerships, exhibit their car at Formula-E, and potentially have a commercial and manufacturing presence.
