February 4, 2026: College of Business invited Mr. Weam Munshi, the Head of Information Security at Tabby, to be part of CoB’s Executive Lecture Series.
The lecture titled “Cybersecurity Reinvented: From Firewalls to the Cloud & Beyond” was presented to the audience and College of Business students. It took place on Wednesday, 04/02/2026, from 12:00 to 12:50 PM.
The lecture explored what cybersecurity truly looks like in practice, moving beyond stereotypes and emphasizing its role as a strategic business function. The speaker began by sharing a personal career journey from technology into cybersecurity and leadership, illustrating that career paths in this field are often non-linear and shaped by continuous learning.

The session then focused on why cybersecurity matters in real terms, linking security failures to tangible business consequences such as financial losses, reputational damage, regulatory penalties, and loss of customer confidence. Several myths were challenged, including the belief that cybersecurity is mainly about individual hackers or that tools alone can guarantee protection. Instead, the speaker explained that modern cyber threats are driven largely by organized crime and automation, and that effective cybersecurity depends equally on people, processes, and technology. This perspective helped students understand cybersecurity as a socio-technical discipline rather than a purely technical one.
Finally, the lecture discussed cybersecurity roles and the skills that truly matter for entering and growing in the field. Strong fundamentals in networking, operating systems, and cloud computing were emphasized, along with problem solving ability, communication skills, and ethical judgment.
