February 9, 2026: College of Business invited Mr. Samit Nag, Director of World Bank Group HR & Ms. Mabel Emmanie-Algis Udoh, Manager of Talent Attraction, to be part of CoB’s Executive Lecture Series.
The lecture titled “Global Talent Trends & Career Opportunities at the World Bank Group” was presented to the audience and College of Business students. It took place on Wednesday, 09/02/2026, from 12:00 to 12:50 PM.
The lecture provided an overview of career opportunities at the World Bank Group (WBG) and practical guidance for students and graduates interested in joining an organization that aims to create global impact. It began by introducing WBG’s mission, values, and role in reducing poverty and promoting sustainable development worldwide, with a particular focus on how diverse talent contributes to achieving these goals. Several entry pathways were highlighted, including the Young Professionals Program, WBG Pioneers, the Middle East and North Africa Fellows Program, consultancies, and regular staff positions, demonstrating that WBG offers multiple routes for individuals at different career stages.
A significant portion of the lecture focused on explaining the recruitment process, which typically includes application submission, longlisting and shortlisting, assessments, interviews, and background checks. Students were encouraged to pay close attention to deadlines and understand that competition is high, with only a small percentage of applicants progressing to advanced stages. Practical tips were shared to strengthen applications, such as preparing a concise, well-formatted resume of one to three pages, removing unnecessary personal details, using action verbs, quantifying achievements, and tailoring content to the target role. Similarly, cover letters should be one page, clearly express motivation, demonstrate alignment with job requirements, and conclude with a strong call to action.
The presentation also emphasized effective interview preparation, including developing a clear elevator pitch, reviewing technical and managerial concepts, and researching the organization’s values and culture. The STAR method was introduced as a structured approach to answering behavioral questions. Overall, the lecture aimed to equip students with both awareness of WBG career pathways, and the practical tools needed to present themselves as strong, competitive candidates.
