College of Business Executive Lecture Series “Institutional Investing Following the Best Practices” February 14th, 2024

College of Business invited Ms. Bashayer Alaseeri to be part of CoB’s Executive Lecture Series. Ms. Bashayer is the vice president of investment advisory service at Jedwa Investment.

The lecture titled “Institutional Investing Following the Best Practices” was presented to the audience and College of Business students. It took place on Wednesday, February 14^th, 2024, in the Lecture Theatre (F) from 12:00 to 12:50 PM.

Ms. Bashayer commenced the lecture by recognizing the strong connection between Alfaisal University and Jadwa Investment. This relationship resulted in having 12 coop students in the past years out of 24 coop students from all the universities. This year, Jadwa is hosting 5 coop students, 4 of them are Alfaisal students.

Bashayer then started the lecture by explaining the scope of work involved in investment planning and management as follows:

• Investment strategy: which includes analyzing the assets/liabilities and cash flows, defining the investment objectives, benchmarking and drafting the investment policy.
• Operational support to implement asset allocations.
• Strategy Implementation: that includes the design of manager structure, manager selection, manager monitoring and evaluation of direct investment opportunities.

Moving on, she explained the concept of targeting superior risk-adjusted long-term returns through diversified portfolios with a supporting graph. The graph shows cumulative wealth of different types of investment portfolios over a period from 2009 to 2020. It highlights the performance comparison between globally diversified, global balanced, local equity, and cash &money market portfolios.

The lecture is part of College of Business Executive Lecture Series. It provides Alfaisal University students and guests from the business community the opportunity to learn from some of the country’s leading executives and leaders as they talk about their experiences.  College of Business sponsors the weekly Executive Lecture Series to bridge the gap between the world of leadership and business education.
