Alfaisal University proudly celebrates the achievements of our Formula Student Team, Haizum, at the Formula SAE Australasia competition held in Melbourne, Australia. Formula SAE is a student design competition organized by SAE International. Formula SAE challenges students to conceive, design, fabricate, and compete with small formula-style racing cars. Teams spend 8-12 months designing, building, and preparing their vehicles for a competition. These cars are judged in a series of static and dynamic events, including technical inspection, cost, presentation, engineering design, solo performance trials and high-performance endurance.
Haizum successfully represented Alfaisal with their meticulously engineered vehicle, passing all technical, mechanical, and safety inspections. They also achieved:
-2nd Place in the Business Presentation, showcasing their strategic planning, market understanding and business acumen. They were also 3rd place in the Costing, Design, Endurance, and Efficiency events
-The SAE-A Special Commendation Award, recognizing their contributions to the competition.
– Participating in the endurance category and completing 9 laps.
– 4th place in the Internal Combustion class
The journey to Formula SAE Australasia exemplifies the core values of Alfaisal University: collaboration, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence. Over the past year, the team of 10 students dedicated countless hours at the Automotive Center at Alfaisal University. There under the mentorship of the Center’s Director, Dr. Abdelnaser Khaled Daoud, and the supervision of Mr. Asem Alakeel, the students transformed their ideas into reality, gaining hands-on experience in engineering design, manufacturing, and project management.
Recognizing Team Haizum’s efforts, President Dr. Mohammed AlHayaza said “The team’s performance is a true testament to their hard work, ingenuity, and perseverance, as well as the mentorship and support they received throughout this journey. Securing prestigious awards and commendations, including the SAE-Australasia Special Commendation Award, and representing Saudi Arabia as the sole Middle Eastern institution is a monumental achievement.”
The team members—Luluah Aldamer, Sheikha Alakeel, Riyadh Alsahil, Waleed Fallatah, Khalid Khan, Ghaith Aljarba, Albaraa Salti, Suliman Darwish, Sarah Darwish, and Wadee Kharbat—serve as an inspiration to their peers and the broader Alfaisal community. Their dedication and teamwork reflect the spirit of excellence that defines Alfaisal University.
