Riyadh, Saudi Arabia —Alfaisal University has received strong recognition for its research integrity, earning a rating that meets international standards under the newly developed Research Integrity Risk Index (RI²) — the world’s first empirically grounded, composite metric designed to identify and profile institutional-level risks to research integrity.
Developed by Professor Lokman Meho (لقمان محّو) at the American University of Beirut, the RI² framework was created in response to mounting global concerns over how university ranking systems incentivize publication volume and citation counts at the expense of scholarly rigor and ethical research practices.
According to the assessment, Alfaisal University demonstrated strong institutional safeguards, governance structures, and research culture aligned with international best practices in integrity and ethics. The University’s RI² rating reflects its ongoing commitment to fostering credible, responsible, and high-quality research that contributes meaningfully to scientific advancement and societal impact.
Alfaisal University’s recognition under the RI² framework reinforces its position as a leading institution advancing research excellence with integrity — in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030’s emphasis on quality, innovation, and ethical governance in higher education.
