RIYADH — May 17, 2026 — The Board of Trustees of Alfaisal University held its 31st meeting, chaired by HRH Prince Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies.
The Board commenced its activities by officially inaugurating the Savvy Esports Academy at the university’s campus in Riyadh. The board members were welcomed by HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Savvy Games Group.
During the inauguration, board members were introduced to the technical and human capabilities designed to cultivate national talent within Saudi Arabia’s rapidly growing gaming and esports sector.

Following the opening, the Board held its regular meeting to review the university’s latest milestones across academic and research disciplines.
The discussions highlighted Alfaisal University’s ongoing advancements in higher education, innovation, and scientific research. The Board also celebrated the university’s consecutive successes in international rankings and the development of specialized academic programs tailored to meet the objectives of national development.

A major focus of the meeting was centered on strategic expansion plans for higher education. The Board reviewed several newly proposed PhD and Master’s programs across various colleges, aimed at enriching the local research ecosystem and preparing qualified national cadres in high-priority fields.
In a landmark strategic move, the Board approved the establishment of the College of Graduate Studies for Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Developed in partnership between Alfaisal University and King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC), the new college is designed to integrate medical education, scientific research, and clinical practice. This initiative aims to solidify the Kingdom’s position as a premier regional and global hub for medicine and biomedical sciences.
The meeting concluded with the review of several administrative agenda items, resulting in a series of decisions and recommendations aimed at driving the university’s future growth, academic leadership, and community service.
